Vijayawada/Visakhapatnam: As announced earlier, the Andhra Pradesh PRC Struggle Committee formed by various unions and associations, on Monday served a notice to go on Statewide strike from February 7 after squarely rejecting the invitation for talks.
An estimated 4.84 lakh government employees, thousands of teachers and pensioners will participate in the agitation. Employees of various corporations including APSRTC have also announced their decision to take part in the agitation.
The Cabinet approved the two GOs on payment of fitment at 23 percent and processing of salaries excluding IR at 27 percent from January salary. The employees demand cancellation of GOs as that will lead to drawing salary less than the past and to hold talks for an amicable settlement. However, the Cabinet approved the GOs and increased the age of retirement to 62 on January 21.
As per the agitation plan, the employees will submit memoranda to Dr. Ambedkar statues at all taluka headquarters on January 26, take part in relay hunger strike at all district headquarters from 9 am to 5 pm on January 27, 28 and 29, called for 'Chalo Vijayawada' on February 3, launch non-cooperation (all apps down) on February 5 and go on indefinite strike from February 7.
The strike notice was served to the government on Monday by Bandi Srinivasa Rao, president, APNGOs' Association, K.R. Suryanarayana, chairman, AP Government Employees Aikya Vedika
K Venkatrami Reddy, chairman, AP Government Employees' Federation and Bopparaju Venkateswarlu, chairman, APJAC, Amaravati.
In the notice, the struggle committee leaders said "as there is no response from the government to arrive at an amicable solution and instead there being provocation by the actions of the government for hurried and unilateral implementation of pay revision, without providing even an option of choosing the effective date, which is a customary practice."
They said keeping in view the interest of all, they have unanimously decided to proceed with the already chalked out agitation programme demanding immediate settlement of 11th Pay Revision Commission.
The strike notice stated that the government alone will be responsible for the disruption to the citizen services if any on account of the agitation programme being carried out by the employees to achieve their 'just and genuine' demands.
